Each Area On Earth Has Its Own Local Time Zone

All over the planet, each country's towns and communities have a designated time zone. The United States time zones are divided into four different sections starting at the East Coast with Eastern Standard Time, Central Standard Time, Mountain Standard Time and Pacific Standard Time. The US also has Alaskan Standard Time and Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time for the non-contiguous states. Many countries around the world learn about the zones in the USA for business purposes to remain competitive in their respective markets.

The times on the East Coast known as EST are also shared by Canada and Brazil. Major cities in the US that follow Easter Standard Time include Atlanta, GA, Boston, MA and New York City New York. Other cities around the globe the share EST include Belize City, Belize, Bogota, Columbia, Havana, Cuba, Lima, Peru and Quebec City, Quebec. CST is next respectively and includes US states like Illinois, Kansas, North Dakota and Texas. Most of Mexico and large portions of Central America also follow Central Standard Time.

The Zones In The US Are Shared With Other Areas Of The World

MST is between the CST and PST and includes the states of Wyoming, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and Montana as well as portions of other mid-west states. Portions of Canada and Mexico share the MST zone with the USA. PST covers the West Coast of the US and includes Oregon, Washington and California as well as parts of Nevada. Parts of Canada and Mexico also share the PST with the US.

As you move west, each zone is an hour earlier. In other words, if it is 4:00pm EST, that translates to 3:00pm CST, 2:00pm MST, and 1:00pm PST.
